Startup Consultancy in Egypt: AdvertiseUp’s Journey From Advertising Agency to Consultancy
AdvertiseUp started in Cairo in 2016 as an advertising agency built around one simple idea: helping startups and small businesses move forward.
What began with branding, websites, social media and advertising gradually developed into something broader. Today, AdvertiseUp combines marketing, technology, data, customer experience and business strategy to help founders understand not only how to market their businesses, but what may actually be standing in the way of growth.
Looking back, that evolution can be seen clearly through three recognitions from MEA Markets.
In 2020, AdvertiseUp was named Best Logo Design Branding Agency – Cairo.
In 2021, it was recognized as Best Start-Ups & Small Business Development Agency – Egypt.
And in 2026, AdvertiseUp received the title Most Dedicated Start-Up Support Consultancy Firm 2026 – Egypt.
Three awards. Three different descriptions.
But for us, they tell one continuous story.
It Started With “Start You Up”
When AdvertiseUp was founded, startups and small businesses were not simply one segment of the market we wanted to serve.
They were the reason the agency existed.
Our early philosophy was summarized in three words:
Start You Up.
The mission was to help growing businesses find their way into the market through creative marketing and advertising solutions.
At the beginning, much of that work naturally revolved around branding, websites, social media, design and advertising.
A new business needed an identity.
It needed somewhere for customers to find it.
It needed to communicate.
And eventually, it needed to attract customers.
But even in AdvertiseUp’s earliest internal philosophy, the objective was never simply to sell designs or advertising campaigns. The objective was to help the client achieve a business result.
That distinction became increasingly important as the company grew.
2020: Building Brands
In 2020, MEA Markets recognized AdvertiseUp as:
Best Logo Design Branding Agency – Cairo
At that stage of our journey, branding played a significant role in what we did.
For many startups, branding is one of the first moments when an idea begins to feel like a real company.
A name becomes an identity.
An idea becomes something customers can recognize.
A business begins communicating what it stands for.
But working closely with founders also taught us that branding could only solve part of the problem.
A great logo could make a company more recognizable.
It could not fix an offer customers did not want.
A beautiful website could strengthen a company’s image.
It could not solve an unsustainable pricing model.
A strong advertising campaign could bring thousands of visitors.
It could not guarantee that those visitors would become customers.
The more businesses we worked with, the more obvious this became.
Marketing problems were often connected to much bigger business problems.
2021: From Advertising to Business Development
Only one year later, the wording of our next MEA Markets recognition had already changed significantly.
AdvertiseUp was named:
Best Start-Ups & Small Business Development Agency – Egypt
That change reflected what was happening inside the agency.
We were still designing brands.
Still building websites.
Still creating content.
Still running advertising campaigns.
But the conversations with our clients were becoming different.
Instead of only asking:
“How do we improve this campaign?”
we started asking:
“Why isn’t the business converting?”
Instead of only asking:
“How much should we spend on advertising?”
we needed to ask:
“Should advertising be where the next pound is spent at all?”
The questions became broader.
Where should the company’s budget go?
Which products deserve more investment?
Why are customers visiting but not purchasing?
Is the problem advertising, pricing, inventory, the website or the offer itself?
Are customers coming back?
Is the company tracking the right numbers?
What should management prioritize first?
Those are no longer purely advertising questions.
They are business questions.
And that shift became one of the foundations of AdvertiseUp’s move toward business consultancy in Egypt.
The Years Between 2021 and 2026
There wasn’t one meeting where AdvertiseUp suddenly decided to stop thinking like an agency and start thinking like a consultancy.
It happened gradually.
Client by client.
Project by project.
Problem by problem.
We would work on an advertising account and discover a problem with the website.
We would work on a website and discover a problem with the customer journey.
We would analyze sales and discover issues with product availability, pricing or inventory.
We would implement technology and discover that the real problem was the process surrounding the technology.
We would review a company’s marketing performance and sometimes discover that spending more money on advertising was not the right recommendation at all.
That experience changed the question we asked ourselves.
It stopped being:
“Which service should we provide?”
And increasingly became:
“What does this business actually need?”
Sometimes the answer is advertising.
Sometimes it is a better website.
Sometimes it is technology.
Sometimes it is data.
Sometimes it is a different pricing or product strategy.
And sometimes the most valuable thing a founder needs is someone outside the day-to-day operation who can identify the real problem before the company invests more money trying to solve the wrong one.
How AdvertiseUp Became a Startup Consultancy in Egypt
By 2026, this way of working had become a much larger part of AdvertiseUp.
That year, MEA Markets recognized the company as:
Most Dedicated Start-Up Support Consultancy Firm 2026 – Egypt
Of the three awards, this one perhaps describes our current direction most clearly.
AdvertiseUp has not stopped being an agency.
Marketing still matters.
Performance advertising still matters.
Websites still matter.
Branding, content, technology and customer experience still matter.
What changed is how we look at them.
Today, we increasingly see all of these areas as connected parts of the same business.
Because a founder usually does not care about their click-through rate simply because it is a marketing metric.
They care because they want the business to grow.
They do not care about website conversion in isolation.
They care because visitors who do not convert represent lost opportunities.
They do not care about data dashboards because dashboards look impressive.
They care because better information can lead to better decisions.
That is the role we believe a startup consultancy in Egypt should play: helping founders connect individual problems to the wider business rather than treating every issue in isolation.
From Marketing Services to Business Decisions
One of the biggest lessons from ten years of working with businesses is that the problem a company initially identifies is not necessarily its real problem.
A founder might believe they need more advertising.
The data may show that they need a better conversion rate first.
A company may think it has a website problem.
The real issue may be its product mix.
Sales may be declining while advertising performance appears healthy.
The problem may be seasonality, inventory, pricing or customer retention.
This is why consultancy became a natural extension of AdvertiseUp’s work.
Instead of beginning with a predetermined service, the starting point increasingly becomes diagnosis.
What is happening?
What do the numbers say?
Where is the bottleneck?
What has the greatest impact?
What should happen first?
Only then does execution begin.
This approach is also behind ThinkUp, AdvertiseUp’s focused business consultancy offering for founders and business owners who need help identifying problems, setting priorities and deciding what to do next.
What Hasn’t Changed Since 2016
Although AdvertiseUp has changed significantly over ten years, the core idea behind the company has remained surprisingly consistent.
Our original mission focused on startups.
Our early promise was Start You Up.
Our work was built around helping businesses find their way into the market and grow.
The tools changed.
The team changed.
The services expanded.
The technology became more advanced.
The businesses we work with became more complex.
But the objective remained the same:
Help businesses move forward.
That is why the three MEA Markets recognitions make more sense when viewed together.
2020 — Best Logo Design Branding Agency – Cairo
We were helping businesses build how they presented themselves.
2021 — Best Start-Ups & Small Business Development Agency – Egypt
We were becoming increasingly involved in how those businesses grew.
2026 — Most Dedicated Start-Up Support Consultancy Firm – Egypt
We were increasingly helping business owners understand what needed to happen before the next stage of growth could begin.
A Different Kind of Business Consultancy in Egypt
AdvertiseUp’s consultancy direction comes from execution experience.
We didn’t begin with consultancy and then observe businesses from a distance.
We came to consultancy after years of building, advertising, designing, developing, measuring, testing and solving problems alongside clients.
Running campaigns taught us how businesses acquire customers.
Building websites taught us what those customers do after they arrive.
Working with analytics taught us how easily assumptions can differ from reality.
Technology projects showed us how systems and operations affect customer experience.
And working directly with founders taught us that sometimes the most important contribution is challenging the original question.
That experience now shapes how we approach startup consulting in Egypt.
We want to understand the business first and recommend the solution second.
Where AdvertiseUp Landed
Ten years after AdvertiseUp was founded, consultancy does not feel like leaving advertising behind.
It feels like the result of everything advertising taught us.
We started by helping businesses look ready for growth.
Then we helped them market for growth.
Today, increasingly, we help them understand what is standing in the way of growth.
That means looking at strategy.
Marketing.
Technology.
Data.
Customer experience.
Products.
Performance.
And the decisions connecting all of them.
The 2020, 2021 and 2026 MEA Markets recognitions give us milestones that we are proud of.
But what matters most is what happened between those milestones.
AdvertiseUp began with a mission to help startups.
Ten years later, we are still pursuing the same mission — only with a much wider understanding of what helping a business actually requires.
And as AdvertiseUp continues developing as a startup consultancy in Egypt, perhaps the most interesting part is that we have ended up surprisingly close to the idea we started with:
Start You Up.
Find the bottleneck before you spend more.
If you’re building or growing a business and you’re not sure what is actually holding it back, start with clarity. AdvertiseUp helps founders and SMEs identify the real problem, prioritize the right next move, and avoid investing more money in the wrong solution.
